Corporate Accountant and Credit Specialist

West Central Steel, Inc. is looking for a Corporate Accountant that will also have Credit Specialist duties. This candidate should have previous experience in both accounting and credit functions.

The Corporate Accountant is responsible for following GAAP in creating accurate and timely financial records for the organization. This person must be detail orientated. The role of the Credit Specialist is protect the company’s assets by investigating and assessing the credit worthiness of potential and existing customers.

Job Duties and Essential Functions for Corporate Accountant:

Prepare asset, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing account information. Assist with external audit in preparing assigned schedules or the annual and interim audit. Maintain internal controls. Make sure that all work complies with company policies, all regulatory guidelines, and professional standards. Maintain customer confidence and protect operations by keeping financial information confidential. Document policies procedures and workflow for assigned areas of responsibility.

Job Duties and Essential Functions for Credit Specialist:

Assure timely collection of monies due to corporation. Monitor and report on deviations from credit standards. Manage cash application making sure all cash receipts are applied properly. Contact customers regarding overdue accounts and determine reasons for non-payment. Determine whether customer orders are to be held, releases order for customers with acceptable account status and notifies sales department of orders held. Takes all necessary steps to understand, reconcile and resolve all payment discrepancies such as unauthorized discounts, duplicates use of credit memo, duplicate payments, deductions etc.

Conduct credit checks on all customers, establish and manage limits. Make recommendations to improve quality of invoicing and collection procedures. Bankruptcy filings. Collection placement.
